Recently, several shipping companies have successively released their December freight rate adjustment plans, including MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd, etc. The involved routes include Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, etc.
1.Mediterranean shipping
From December 1, 2025 until further notice (but no more than December 14, 2025), the new freight rates from all Far East ports (including but not limited to those in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia) to ports in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean region (covering the Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea and North Africa) as well as the Black Sea are as follows:

2.MAERSK
A scanning fee of 25 euros per box will be charged in Romania starting from December 1st. The effective date of the FMC range price is December 15th.

Starting from December 7th, Maersk will expand the application scope of the overweight surcharge to include all 20-foot containers with a verified gross weight (VGM) exceeding 20 metric tons, from Far East Asia (excluding Taiwan, China) to all ports in the Mediterranean. For goods originating from Taiwan, China, this will take effect as of December 22, 2025.

Starting from December 25th, a cargo congestion charge (CFD) will be levied from the port of Beira in Mozambique, a port in the Middle East and Far East.
